Art deco style, art deco interior and art deco flat - bimago interior design blog

Art deco style is a real journey to the 1920s and the world of The Great Gatsby. The exquisite, artistic and refined arrangement has stolen the hearts of lovers of Viennese Art Nouveau and Rococo in particular. The art deco interiors are full of decor and incredibly stylish ornaments - you will find antiques, luxurious materials, and shiny accessories. And you should not forget the variety of textures, materials and shades. Some of the most characteristic elements are geometric forms, sharp folds and floral motifs, which usually appear on wallpaper.

Art deco living is also characterised by elegant lines, distinctive colours and high-quality materials - lacquered wood, marble or glass. Very often, the interiors are enriched with luxurious decorations made of ivory and pearls. The presence of such objects makes the interior elegant, prestigious and highly original.

Art deco living room

A living room furnished in the art deco style impresses with refined elegance. For this reason, the floor should have wood, preferably herringbone, and a geometric-patterned carpet to give the space a cosy feel. Above all, it should be furnished with high-quality materials.

When decorating an art deco living room, opt for light and pastel colours, which will provide the perfect background for furniture and accessories. Add shade to muted colours, for example, on one of the walls. Deep burgundy or bottle green will be perfect. In an art deco living room, wallpapers characteristic of this style should be present. Choose from floral or geometric motifs. Decorative roses and Golden Age will certainly emphasise the unique atmosphere of the 1920s.

Placing a large sofa with rounded shapes in intense, expressive colours in the living room is also a great idea. The material is also essential - it is best to choose velvet, which will make the interior look luxurious but very cosy.

Art deco bedroom

The essential element of any bedroom is the bed. When choosing this type of furniture, you can choose a massive, solid colonial-style model or a more romantic proposal, i.e. a wooden bed with carved legs. However, the headboard, one of the defining features of the art deco style in the bedroom, is particularly noteworthy - an upholstered and quilted headboard works best. Rooms with a lot of space can also be furnished with comfortable armchairs or shell chairs, together with a dressing table, one of the most characteristic pieces of furniture associated with the 1920s.

It would be best if you enriched the arrangement of an art deco bedroom with stylish accessories. The first is a large mirror in an ornate frame, which optically enlarges the space. Also, distinctive wall lamps can be mentioned, which are responsible for atmospheric lighting. Decorations also include Art Nouveau canvas prints which perfectly emphasise the atmosphere of an interior decorated in the art deco style.

Did you know that...?

The art deco style is a fusion of many artistic trends of previous generations. The impulse to draw on ancient elements came with the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb in 1992, where numerous statues and richly decorated paintings were found. These became a real inspiration for artists, who tried to transfer them to almost all everyday objects. The motifs were mainly transferred to jewellery, but the so-called tutmania was also particularly evident in interior design, which came to be known as art deco.

Art deco bathroom

An art deco bathroom is a space that requires an extraordinary amount of attention. Bringing a specific atmosphere to a small room is a challenging task. It requires an excellent ability to organise the space and an aesthetic sense. The art deco style looks particularly impressive in a spacious bathroom. However, this does not mean that owners of much smaller spaces have to forgo the introduction of elements characteristic of this style. One of the essential features of an art deco bathroom is the patterned wall, which you can achieve by using hexagonal tiles or a moisture-resistant mural. Ensure that the wall has geometric patterns that harmonise the bathroom interior. In this type of room, simple furniture made of high-quality materials and a gold and black colour scheme will also work well. Strong contrasts and a large mirror with an ornate, preferably gold-plated, frame are a must in an art deco bathroom.

The art deco style of living is all about elegance, luxury, symmetry and harmony. High-quality materials, geometric patterns, and exceptional attention to even the smallest detail make the interior stunning and impossible to take your eyes off. It is a space that will undoubtedly appeal to lovers of art and good taste.
